Arare and wonderful pair of dainty, Georgian, button earrings, fabricated in 14k yellow gold and silver, whose rose cut diamonds are arranged to suggest a flower. These glinty old diamonds are mounted in crimped, darkened silver collets, and those collets rest inside gold, flower-shaped, sawtooth-edge bases. The subtly-convex backsides of these earrings are decorated with the most beautiful, deeply-hand-engraved details— each of the individual diamonds has a flower engraved behind it, to mark its presence in the arrangement, on the reverse, as if one were the shadow of the other! The construction of these earrings is impeccable. They drop from the earlobe, and are versatileand easy-wearing, thanks to their diminutivesize.
These earrings would have been buttons for a garment, originally.Latching mechanical backs are 18k gold, and were added later, probably around 1900.
